Because of the diversity of our Primary Care Physicians Southwest Medical Associates has the ability to diagnose and treat a variety of health conditions and diseases for people of all ages. Some of our physicians may further specialize in another area of medicine.

PRIMARY CARE

Family Medicine

Family Medicine Physicians are medical doctors who specialize in the total health care of the individual and the family.

Internal Medicine

Internal Medicine Physicians ("Internists") focus on adult medicine. They care for their patients for life from teen years through old age. Internists have special training that focuses on the prevention and treatment of adult diseases.

Pediatric Medicine

Pediatricians specialize in the development and treatment of infants, children and adolescents. They specialize in diseases and ailments specific to young and growing bodies.

In addition to primary care and several on-site services, we also provide the following medical specialties.

SPECIALTIES

Podiatric Medicine

Doctors of Podiatric medicine (DPM), also known as podiatrists, diagnose and treat disorders, diseases, and injuries of the foot and lower leg to keep this part of the body working properly. We spend a great deal of time on our feet. As we become more active across all age groups, the need for foot care is increasingly important to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Accidents happen so before going to the emergency room, you might consider calling our office to see if an immediate appointment is available. Lower extremity problems such as lacerations, sprains, fractures, swelling, foreign bodies in the feet and wounds can often be treated in our clinical setting.

Our Podiatrists provide care for the following conditions of the foot, ankle and lower leg.

  • Sprains and fractures
  • Advanced surgical treatment of deformities and injuries
  • Diabetic infections and wounds
  • Bunions and hammer toes
  • Heel pain, arch pain and flat feet
  • Ingrowing toenails
  • Arthritic joints
  • Sports related problems and injuries

To treat these problems, they may prescribe drugs, order physical therapy, set fractures, and perform surgery. They also fit corrective inserts called orthotics, design plaster casts and strappings to correct deformities, and design custom-made shoes.

To assist in the diagnosis of a foot or lower leg problem we provide radiology, bone densitometry and medical laboratory services on-site.
